CIFAL Newcastle invite you to attend a public lecture on the Importance of Technology in Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by United Nations Assistant Secretary General Mr Nikhil Seth, Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for training and Research (UNITAR).
Mr Seth, will provide an overview of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and how ongoing technological advances offer profound potential for accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
When utilised effectively, technology can be mobilized to identify barriers to and provide solutions for sustainable development challenges from the local to global level.
Mr Seth will draw on his extensive experience in both his current role in UNITAR and previous role of the Director of the Division for Sustainable Development, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) at the United Nations Secretariat in New York in which his division was responsible for supporting the intergovernmental negotiations for the post-2015 development agenda, which was adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015 in September 2015.
The world has a plan, with goals, targets and indicators. Technology will change the way we work and the way we overcome the global challenges to achieve these goals.
